How to Stay Focused at Work

Today's Next LVL Business tip we are going to share with you some quick tips for how you can stay focused during your work day.

So it's that time of year where we're into the rhythm of things. We've got our strategy, we've got our work. It's really easy to fall into the trap of doing busy work, to be distracted by emails, by calls.

And to fall off the bandwagon of our strategy and what we want to do. So it's a great reminder for this time of year to really think about how we can stay focused in our workday.

So here are some quick tips that you can implement right now.

#1 - Time Block

Time block your calendar. If you don't do this already, it's a very effective tool in making sure that you are achieving what you want to. Time blocks can include a time to check emails and make phone calls. Time where you have meetings with clients, and more importantly, big blocks of time where you can actually sit down and do the physical work.

There's lots of ways that you can tackle that backlog of work. One of the things that I like to recommend is using the Pomodoro technique, which all uptakes about two and a half hours. Be sure to check it out.

#2 - Inform Everyone of Time Blocks

The second quick tip that you can do is to obviously let your clients and your team know of your time blocks. So they know when are you available to chat and when you are available for a meeting. Keeping people informed means that they won't distract you in those times when you are doing that very important work.

#3 - Automate &Systemise

The third tip is to have a look at how you are doing your work and see if there are any opportunities to automate or systemise your work. This will make sure that you're finding ultra efficiency in your day so you can get through more.

#4 - Categorise&Prioritise

The next thing to do is to categorise and prioritise your work. Are there things that you could potentially delegate through others? Which leads me to my next point, delegate effectively. You will stay focused if you're doing the highest value work for your business. And one of the easiest ways to do that, is to delegate. Especially some of the busier work, admin work to somebody else. Do not be afraid to outsource - outsourcing is your friend.

#5 - Always Do Number One

The last tip is to make sure that you stay focused and stay true to number one. And that is your time blocks.

Don't compromise on them. It'll take some time to form the new habit, but make sure you stay true to your time blocks, inform everybody. And you will absolutely move the needle in terms of staying focused and delivering what you want to this year.
